Quds University National Workshop
April 23, 2007

The Al Quds University National Workshop was held on
Monday, April 23 from 9:30 AM until 4:30 PM. The workshop
was hosted by The High Institute of Archaeology at al-Quds
University's Abu Dis Campus. Twenty eight individual
experts and institutions received invitations to attend the
workshop three weeks prior to the event. Of these, sixteen
representatives from various institutions attended the
workshop, see the below participants list for more
information.
The workshop included two main lectures, an open discussion
and a site tour to Wadi al-Kelt. The first lecture was
presented by PUSH Project Manger, Dr. Yusuf Natsheh. Dr.
Natsheh's lecture focused on the PUSH project's background,
goals, objectives, partners and the expected outcome. The
second lecture, conducted jointly by the four members of
the Palestinian PUSH team including, Dr. Natsheh, Dr.
Marwan Abu Khalef, Mr. Mohammed al-Jaradat and Architect
Osama Hamdan, focused primarily on the methodology of
selecting sites and the sites themselves. Many questions,
comments and suggestions were raised in the open discussion
and answers from PUSH Palestinian team were presented.
Following the discussion, PUSH team members and guests
participated in a site tour of Wadi al-Kelt and St.
George's Monastery. The tour, guided by Dr. Natsheh, was
informative and enjoyable. Furthermore, the site tour
generated clear enthusiasm for the rich heritage in the
region and the overall goals that the PUSH project works to
promote.

Bezalel
Academy National Workshop
April 15, 2007
The Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design's
National Workshop was held on Sunday, April 15 at Bezalel
Acadmey's Department of Architecture in Jerusalem. The
meeting was attended by approximately 25 experts from
various academic and professional organizations focused on
heritage.

Professor Michael Turner,
PUSH Project Manger for Bezalel presented a presentation on
the PUSH project outlining the PUSH project's background,
goals, objectives, partners, timeline and the expected
outcomes. This was followed by an open discussion to review
the national inventory of sites of shared heritage and the
identification of themes that could integrate well with the
inventories of sites released by the other two PUSH partner
teams. Many questions, comments and suggestions were raised
in the open discussion and answers from PUSH team were
presented.

Society for Sustainable Development National Workshop

The Jordan
Society for Sustainable Development's National Workshop was
held May 3, 2007 in Amman. The meeting was attended by
approximately 20 experts from various academic and
professional organizations focused on heritage including
the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Education,
Hashemite University, Al Albaiet University, Birdlife
International / Middle East, Jordan Environment Society,
Friends of Archeology Society, Jordan Inbound Tourism
Society, Ministry of Planning, Amman Greater Municipality
and Friends of the Earth Middle East.
Mr. Khaled Nasser, PUSH Project Manger for JSSD presented a
presentation on the PUSH project outlining the PUSH
project's background, goals, objectives, partners, timeline
and the expected outcomes. This was followed by an open
discussion to review the national inventory of sites of
shared heritage. Many questions, comments and suggestions
were raised in the open discussion and answers from PUSH
team were presented. The participants commented on the
value of the project and the added value it could give to
national level heritage projects.
